Bocas has become one of Panama’s favourite surf spots, with breaks around Carenero, Bluff Beach, Playa Paunch and Silverbacks ranging from mellow beginner waves to serious reef breaks. Warm water and surf schools in town make it a great place to learn; experienced surfers can be guided to the break that matches the day’s conditions.

Seasonal: surf is strongest roughly December–March and July–August.
