Guayabo Lodge

Santa Cruz de Turrialba, about 30 minutes from Turrialba town, on the slopes of Turrialba Volcano, Costa Rica View map

About the property

A cosy mountain lodge on the slopes of Turrialba Volcano, with valley views, its own farm and breakfast included.

Guayabo Lodge sits high on the slopes of Turrialba Volcano in Santa Cruz, a quiet farming area above the Turrialba valley. It is a small, friendly lodge where the day starts with homemade bread, jam and cheese and coffee grown on the property.

Rooms look out over the valley and, on clear days, the volcano. The lodge has its own farm that supplies the kitchen, a restaurant and bar with a menu that changes daily (vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available), a terrace for stargazing and a living room with a fireplace.

It is an excellent base for the Turrialba region: Guayabo National Monument is about 30 minutes away, and rafting on the Pacuare, coffee and cheese farms, waterfalls and botanical gardens are all close by. A trail leads in about 15 minutes to the Aquiares River.
