An underwater world that looks straight out of a nature documentary. Caño Island Biological Reserve is widely regarded as one of the best snorkeling spots in Costa Rica — crystal-clear water, colorful coral, dense schools of tropical fish, and the occasional dolphin or whale crossing your path on the way out.
Depart Drake Bay early and reach the protected waters of Caño Island in about 40 minutes, where your guide leads two separate snorkeling sessions at different sites around the island. Between dips, rest on the island with a light snack and take in the ocean views from a lookout point before heading back to Drake Bay for a shared lunch.
